Wednesday Wisdom

As we have seen, great earthquakes, forest fires and mass extinctions are all merely the expected large fluctuations that arise universally in nonequilibrium systems. To avoid them, one would have to alter the laws of nature.

  2. No, not altering the laws of nature Justin: they invent 'natural' events and hope that everyone is dead before those events do not come to pass.

    Unfortunately, they would do less damage if they understood the laws of nature and were trying to change them.
