Little Children are Sacred

"It is clear not enough has been done to tackle the abuse of Aboriginal children. We must recognise that as long as the abuse of children continues to occur, it diminishes us all."
"We know it all," Ms Anderson said. "We know what needs to be done. There's no reason except lack of political will. Aboriginal people are sitting out there isolated and going quite mad and turning in on themselves. Don't let's piss around any more."

Hey Caz, did you see Lateline last night.

Tony Jones interviewed Northern Territory Chief Minister Clare Martin on the national disgrace of child abuse in remote communities.

He wrapped up the interview with a question that was a logical corollary of the preceding dismal catalogue of her government’s performance on the issue:

Clare Martin, a final question, have you considered resigning over the serial failures of your Government to act on these issues going right back to when you first came into power?

Martin blinked for a few moments — as if the idea may have suddenly dawned on her — then, marshalling all her powers of cant, studiously proceeded to not answer the question at all.

    Jones: 6. Martin: Nil.

    Sadly, kids Nil also.

  3. Jacob – has that woman got no conscience?

    It beggars belief.

Wonder who she thinks is responsible for doing absolutely nothing?

She can’t ever claim that she “didn’t know”; she has known for years, she knew long before any reports or books were written.
