Bullshit, just ask any coward - start with any politician.j
I would think many politicians believe themselves to be immortal ... in their own minds. It's why some get into politics, isn't it? Ask Menzies, Hawke, Keating, Howard. All, in their own way, sought immortality via the top job?(At least a poet, a singer, a novelist, a painter, can't impact an entire country - not even the local homeless shelter - so any urges to leave a ribbon of themselves behind, forever, may leave personal or family damage, but no damage to the rest.)
How else can you get a decent sized war started.
You would be absolutely correct Caz - metaphorically speaking. But does a statue make one immortal? Will anybody remember us when the Sun, our star in heaven gives up the goat?Who will remember us - and who will care?No one to bear witness, no trees to hear as they fall in the forest.Quite frankly I don't give a damn.Today has been wonderful - that's all that counts.j
Immortality is in the mind of the wishful thinker. We all go back to star dust, which is from whence we came. That gives us all a level a immortality, at least until the Sun gives up the goat.
