Wednesday Wisdom

I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the sake of my country ... Corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high place will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavour to prolong its pain by working on the prejudices of the people, until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.

Abraham Lincoln (1864)

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. ~ Thomas Jefferson

  2. Wise leaders, long, long, long ago.

Imagine what the language and content of the Australian or American Constitutions if they were written today ... arrrhhhhhh!

  3. Never seen that quote before and I reckoned I knew a fair bit about Lincoln.

Lincoln was a Republican lawyer who really had his hands full in 1864 defending the Republic from a different kind of capitalist. It sounds pretty unLincolnlike to me.

Sure enough Lincoln never said it.

  6. And Theodor Herzl never said:

" All we have to do is help kick the shit out of the Jews, blame it on the goyimkopfs and we will be swilling Arab kid blood to our hearts' content for ever more"

  7. So, did anyone, anywhere EVER say anything?
Going to have to resort to “Anon” attributions for everything if this keeps up.

Got the Lincoln quote from a recent copy of The Australian.

Yep, looks like nobody said anything after all - in which case ANON sounds safe.

Theo Herzl would regularly have sex with olives, not to piss off Palestinians, rather, he simply loved olives. ~ anon.

Now, being Tasmanian that is highly believable - we do the same with prickly pear.

Only when in flower, I trust.

Stuffed or virgin? It's a matter of preference in my neck of the woods, but does it really matter in the long run? Sooner or later we are all stuffed - totally.

  13. Stuffed, or cactus - yes, it's all the same in the end.
