Last week in Paris at a long table laid for high tea with
a maharajah, around which the world's most expensive and expensively
dressed models paraded in his latest collection, [Karl Lagerfeld] cast himself as the
Queen of Hearts, pronouncing he was inspired by India because ''even the
poor have dignity there''.
With Wonderland logic, he explained that this was
evidenced by the fact that in India ''even poor women own three gold
bracelets''.

Even by his prolific standards, it was a vintage week
for Lagerfeldisms. The designer delighted in telling reporters that he
had never actually been to India.
''Fantasy is often better than reality,'' he explained.
''It's much more inspiring not to go to places than to go.'' A sentiment
with which the Mad Hatter would probably agree.
It's much more inspiring not to go to places than to go.
ReplyDeleteSays all you need to know.
It's far more inspiring not to see his latest "collection" that to see it.
A collection of overwrought and dysfunctional crap one suspects. A bit like the person.
When I looked at that pic all I could think was:
ReplyDeleteif he undoes that collar will his head drop off?
j
Sure that's not a deleted scene from Blade Runner?
ReplyDelete''Fantasy is often better than reality,'' he explained. ''It's much more inspiring not to go to places than to go.''
ReplyDeleteI'm tempted to extend his logic further: it's much more inspiring not to know some people than to know them. For instance, I do not know who Karl Lagerfeld is, and I feel quite inspired by it.
Sheesh, Caz, rushing as usual, I misread the heading and thought it said "HAS a SMALL ANNOYING, COCK."
ReplyDeleteAnd, just for a brief moment there, thought you'd been up to no good, missy.. ;)
He probably also HAS a small annoying cock, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteJustin - his entire costume (unchanged over several decades) does, I believe, hold numerous of his body parts in place.
Tim - yes!
