I had an enigma once; it kept breaking down for reasons I could never comprehend.

Sure it kept breaking down, as even the most robust enigma eventually will, but it is still a puzzle that it did guzzle even more gas than the Potomac.

  3. But that's the thing guys: enigmas are overworked.

Some people keep enigmas in their pockets, forget to take them out, and lose them in the spin cycle of the wash.

A question for Mr Eco if I may.

How does he know it does not have an underlying truth if it is an enigma?

Just like the dear old Potomac Geoff; it's all in the mind - whatever that is.
