Only the beginning?

By proclamation of the Pope, or something like that, Australia is about to get its first saint.

Which begs the question how many we plan on having and how many we require.

We're not an especially saintly nation.

We should leave it at one.

Best not to lift the bar, lest our failure to purloin a hitherto unrecognized degree of saintliness fails, dismally. Then we'd just look all-Copenhagen.

    Just a beginning

    Results 1 - 10 of about 204,000,000 for just a beginning. (0.25 seconds)

    Results 1 - 10 of about 817,000,000 for just a end. (0.23 seconds)

It appears there of less beginnings than ends, and the ends arrive quicker than the beginnings.

In fact for every beginning we have four ends so things are getting serious - very serious, for simple arithmetic tells us that sooner or later we are going to run out of beginnings and only have ends.

And that would be a real bummer.

    I think I'll Google Bing:

    1-10 of 178,000,000 results - just a beginning.
    1-10 of 444,000,000 results - just a end.

    We're fucked.

PS. Fuck Caz, you just edited your thread from "Just a beginning" to "Only the beginning" - Oh well here we go again:

    Google:

Results 1 - 10 of about 58,900,000 for Only the beginning. (0.24 seconds)

Results 1 - 10 of about 959,000,000 for Only the end. (0.24 seconds)

    Bing:

1-10 of 172,000,000 results - Only the beginning
1-10 of 580,000,000 results - Only the end

No matter how we ask the question Caz it still looks like we are running out of beginnings, big time.

Based on the above research we could safely say if everybody in Australia was a saint today, then by 3pm on the 3rd January next year they'll all be gone, finished, ended.

Shame really, cause I kinda thought Geoff was there with a chance

  2. Shite. You caught me Justin. You caught me in action, mid-post, accidentally posting before I'd done anything. Did you notice, when the post first went up, there was no post at all, only the heading?

Yep. That's right, the post ended before it began. Thus proving your theory.

Actually Caz I thought you may have been playing a little game with us.

    Just a beginning....

mmm let's see what we have to say.

But when I went to post my research Just a beginning had ended all ready.

I wonder how many beginnings we have left - do I dig up me stash now or should I hang on a bit.

The problem with that calculation is how many beginnings did we have in The beginning?

Back to googling Bing and binging Google methinks.

  4. Dang ... now that would have been an idea: posting a tantalizing little bit at a time, possibly a post with no end.

Wish I'd thought of that Justin.
