Wednesday Wisdom

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Douglas Adams

Go figure, but I suppose if someone was to tell us the answer to life the universe and everything we would not understand it anyway.

    Now where's that pangalaticgargleblaster.?

  2. He will be missed. Although I always differed with Adams' answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, & everything being 42. To me, he was five digits off in the positive direction. Had he still been alive, I would've loved to argue that point with him. Alas, I won't, at least not in this lifetime.

  3. Yes, 42 never held any affinity for me either Cube.

Perhaps he really did mean 47, and 42 was a typo not picked up in the editing.

Personally 27 does it for me. Such a flexible number.

Also a number of R&R oldies died at 27.

Hendrix, Morrison and Joplin immediately come to mind.

Yep a common old number 27, it pops in all the time at all types of venues.

I'll be having lunch tomorrow at table 27 at my usual Sunday restaruant.

I will attempt to drink 27 beers.

  5. Google "number 47" Justin, or "The 47 Society", then you'll understand all.

I'm not suggesting you attempt drinking 47 beers though. Just sayin'.

BTW - The "You Can't be Serious" thread has at this point in time 27 comments.

  7. Wow, freaky.

Err, on the other hand, no it isn't: I can "fix" that.

  8. Anonymous1:00 PM

I googled it and to be honest I never heard of the number 47.

27 all the time, but you must remember it is easy when having three digits to count to 27.

Anyway now that I know about 47 I'll be keeping an eye out.

BTW when you google number 47 you get 262 million links. The mysterious 27 returns 702 million.

    Number 31 - 610 million

But strangley the number 69 returns a mere 149 million. Now that sucks, would have thought dear old 69 could put in a better performance than that.

Number 1 returns 1 billion 820 million links while number 2 exceeds number 1 by 30 million.

Now if we add all this together, divide by 3, add three, take away the number we first thought of then multiply it by Pi-R2, then divide it by the differential of X squared (or 2X if you wish) then we may well disappear up a duck's arsehole somewhere beyond Magrathea.

Now wouldn't that be a buz?

PS. Would you believe I got a scholarship to teach maths, hard to believe but Mum did have a special relationship with the Head.

  9. I trust you've resumed normal transmissions Justin, and are no longer conducting number searches.
